【摘要】:1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresforaquantitativeacceleratedlaboratoryevaluationoftheinfluenceofextractionsolutionscontainingionsleachedfromthermalinsulationontheaqueouscorrosionofmetals.Theprimaryintentofthepracticeisforusewiththermalinsulationandassociatedmaterialsthatcontributeto,oralternativelyinhibit,theaqueouscorrosionofdifferenttypesandgradesofmetalsduetosolubleionsthatareleachedbywaterfromwithintheinsulation.ThequantitativeevaluationcriteriaareMassLossCorrosionRate(MLCR)determinedfromtheweightlossduetocorrosionofexposedmetalcouponsaftertheyarecleaned.1.2Theinsulationextractionsolutionspreparedforuseinthetestcanbealteredbytheadditionofcorrosiveionstothesolutionstosimulatecontaminationfromanexternalsource.Ionsexpectedtoprovidecorrosioninhibitioncanbeaddedtoinvestigatetheirinhibitoryeffect.1.3Preparedlaboratorystandardsolutionsareusedasreferencesolutionsandcontrols,toprovideameansofcalibrationandcomparison.SeeFig1.1.4Otherliquidscanbetestedfortheirpotentialcorrosivenessincludingcoolingtowerwater,boilerfeed,andchemicalstocks.Addedchemicalinhibitorsorprotectivecoatingsappliedtothemetalcanalsobeevaluatedusingthegeneralguidelinesofthepractice.1.5Thispracticecannotcoverallpossiblefieldconditionsthatcontributetoaqueouscorrosion.Theintentistoprovideanacceleratedmeanstoobtainanon-subjectivenumericvalueforjudgingthepotentialcontributiontothecorrosionofmetalsthatcancomefromionscontainedinthermalinsulationmaterialsorotherexperimentalsolutions.Thecalculatednumericvalueisthemasslosscorrosionrate.Thiscalculationisbasedongeneralcorrosionspreadequallyoverthetestdurationandtheexposedareaoftheexperimentalcellscreatedforthetest.Corrosionfoundinfieldsituationsandthisacceleratedtestalsoinvolvespittingandedgeeffectsandtheratechangesovertime.1.6Themeasurementvaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
